Day 01 Airport / Colombo

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka, the tropical paradise, and be warmly greeted by our driver guide on arrival. Thereafter proceed to Colombo .

Colombo , the Commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Like many capital cities in developing countries Colombo is fast changing its face. In no time, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood, yet in some parts; the old world charm is retained. Embark on a shopping spree until you drop in the famous Colombo shopping malls placing your hands on world famous brands at unbelievable prices.

Also you could visit several landmarks in Colombo while you shop for example; there is a 100-year-Old clock tower and several British built, colonial buildings, which still attract all of us. Other places of interest are, the Pettah bazaar, where one can shop for bargains, Hindu and Buddhist temples, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Colombo museum, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference hall an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the people's republic of china, the new parliament in Sri Jayawardenapura and the folk art centre.

Day 02

Airport / Dambulla or Habarana

After Breakfast at the hotel proceed to Dambullaor Habarana via Kurunegala visiting paddy field and coconut plantation en-rute.  

Pm. At Leisure or Optional Elephant back safari in Habarana.

Day 03

Habarana or Dmbulla / Ritigala / Aukana

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Ritigala,

Ritigala

The Ritigala Buddhist Monastery nestles deep inside the Ritigala Strict Nature Reserve, found just off the Habrana-Anuradhapura road, and is the partially excavated ruins of an extensive Buddhist Monastery. It was abandoned following invasions in 10th and 11th centuries and today holds special appeal with its curious blend of nano-safari and archaeology.

Walking around the beautiful ruins does certainly give you a feeling of adventures in search of mythical pasts time.

Thereafter continue to visit Aukana. Aukana is located only few kilometers from the Kalawewa one of the reservoirs constructed during the reign of King Dathusena (5th century AD), who is believed to have commissioned this magnificent 12m high statue of the Buddha. The best time to visit Aukana (literally sun eating) is at down, when the rays of the rising sun light the statue with dramatic effect .

Day 04

Habarana or Dambulla / Sigiriya / Polonnaruwa

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is known as the 8 th wonder of the world. This rock fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5 th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years. In a sheltered a pocket, approached by a spiral stairway, are the famous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare was the site of the palace and the outer wall was built on the very brink of the precipice. The UNESCO sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya 5 th century water gardens to their former glory.

Pm. Visit to Polonnaruwa. This mediaeval capital is situated about 216 Km South East of Anuradhapura, Parakrama Bahu the great, is generally considered the architect of this lovely city. The remains of the Royal Citadel council chamber, prince's bathing pool and the Gal Vihare, a stone temple with its colossal sculptures of the Buddha in a quiet grove of trees as well as the still functioning Parakrama Samudra, a man made reservoir, large than our Colombo harbour, are on easy distance from each other. The new museum has an excellent scale model of the ancient city as it was.

Day 05

Habarana or Dambulla / Kandy

A fter breakfast proceed to Dambulla rock temple. Dambulla rock temple is a vast isolated rock mass and it was here that king Valagambahu took refuge in the 01 st century B.C. He later turned the caves into a rock temple. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Srilanka's cave temples.The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceiling found here are over 2000 years old and is the largest area of painting found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

hereafter continue to Kandy visiting a spice garden and batik factory in Matale en-route. Kandy , perhaps is Sri Lanka's most beautiful town. Set 488 meters above sea level, and next to Colombo, Kandy is Sri Lanka's most visited place. The focal point of the town is the golden-roofed ‘Dalada Maligawa', where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined. There are numerous shrines and temples in and around Kandy, where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, and stone carvings.

Day 06

Kandy /Peradeniya

After breakfast, visit The Royal Botanic Gardens at ‘Peradeniya' where you could treat your eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.

PM - You will have the opportunity to shop in Kandy bazaar, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, and bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and rush and reed-ware. Late evening witness a kandyan cultural dance performance .

Day 07

Kandy / Nuwara Eliya

After Breakfast proceed to Nuwara eliya, which is the centre of the hill country, visiting a tea plantation and witness the manufacture of the world's famous “Ceylon Tea” en route.

PM - Drive around Gregorys Lake and sightseeing of Nuwara Eliya. Nuwaraeliya set in the heart of tea-country, this beautiful town is where the British succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside, with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, a famous golf course and beautiful parks etc..,

Day 08

Nuwara Eliya /Horton Plains

After breakfast at hotel and proceed to Horton Plains.

6500ft above sea level lies Sri Lanka's highest and most isolated plateau. Nature lovers will revel in this wide, patna-grass covered plain, the haunt of many wild, yet harmless, animals and the home of many species of birds. Bridle paths will take you to the precipice known as World's End – a sheer drop of 1,050 meters. Waterfalls are seen and heard everywhere in this hill country.

PM – Visit the Hakgala Botanical Gardens.

This is the second largest gardens in Sri Lanka situated in salubrious environment near the capital city of the hill country. It provides charm and cold atmosphere with picturesque beauty by its own landscape and many blooms seen in various sections in garden. It enhances natural beauty by small water steams run across the garden and wooden bridges built over them. Thereafter city tour in Nuwara Eliya including visit Market , Old Post Office complex , Gregory Lake etc..,

Day 09

Nuwara Eliya /Yala

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Yala , situated in extreme south-east of Sri Lanka. Stop at Ella. The view from Ella gap is one of the most spectacular scenic sights in Sri Lanka. The landscape falls away in a dizzy drop of 3000 feet to the eastern plains.

PM - excursion to Yala National park.

The elephant is undoubtedly the best known attraction at Yala, seen in small & large herds. Herds of spotted deer are seen all over the park. Monkeys the pinkish rhesus and the grey faced Langur monkey, live and play on the tree tops and the ground below. Wild buffalo & wild boar could give a good surprise & the sight of a leopard sunning itself or drinking water at a water hole could be memorable experience. The peacock is easily the most famous of the birds at Yala. The painted stork, many varieties of heron, the spoonbill, the bee-eater, parakeets, and king-fisher & wood pecker are some of the birds can be seen in the park.

Day 10

Yala / Bentota or Ahugalle

After breakfast optional excursion to Galle.

In this costal town, the Dutch presence is still visible. Galle was an ancient port (said to be the legendary Tarshish of the Bible), and our first international commerce and trade centre. Today, Galle is the bustling provincial capital and administrative centre of the south. It is famous for its lovely Unawatuna Bay, where the sea is reef protected and therefore safe for swimming. The old Dutch ‘Star' fort (a World Heritages Site) covering 36 hectares, the well-preserved Groote Kerk (Dutch Church), Dutch Government House, the New Oriental Hotel (built in 1684) old bell tower and a tide-based Sewage-System, also introduced by the Dutch. In Galle they still make the Dutch ‘pillow-lace' and do fine ebony carving and gem polishing. Thereafter continue to Bentota visiting a turtle hatcher in Kosgoda en route. OR Full day at leisure on the beach.
