Day 01 Airport / Colombo

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka, the tropical paradise, and transfer to Colombo.

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Colombo .

Colombo , the Commercial capital of Sri Lanka . Like many capital cities in developing countries Colombo is fast changing its face. In no time, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood, yet in some parts; the old world charm is retained. Embark on a shopping spree until you drop in the famous Colombo shopping malls placing your hands on world famous brands at unbelievable prices. Also you could visit several landmarks in Colombo while you shop for example; there is a 100-year-Old clock tower and several British built, colonial buildings, which still attract all of us. Other places of interest are, the Pettah bazaar, where one can shop for bargains, Hindu and

Buddhist temples, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Colombo museum, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference hall an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the people's republic of china, the new parliament in Sri Jayawardenapura and the folk art centre .

Day 02 Colombo / Trincomalee

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Trincomalee via Kurunegala , Habarana visiting paddy field and coconut plantation en-route.

Lunch at Hotel Restaurant in Habarana. (Own arrangements)

Trincomalee - Trincomalee is a natural deep water harbor that attracted great sea farers like Marco polo, Ptolemy and Sea Traders China and East Asia from the ancient times. The long and the wide beaches offer surfing, scuba diving and fishing .

Day 03 Trincomalee Sightseeing
Full day at leisure on the beach or Optional visit of Pigeon Island.

Day 04 Trincomalee / Habarana

After Breakfast city tour of Trincomalee including visit Lovers deep, Hot spring wells Koneswaram Kovil etc..,

Lunch at Hotel.

Afternoon continue to Habarana via Habarana. Pm at leisure or Optional Elephant back safari at Habarana ( 01 hour).

Dinner & Overnight at Cinnamon Lodge hotel , Habarana or Similar.
     
Day 05 Habarana / Sigiriya / Polonnaruwa
After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is known as the 8th wonder of the world. This rock fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years. In a sheltered a pocket, approached by a spiral stairway, are the famous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare was the site of the palace and the outer wall was built on the very brink of the precipice. The UNESCO sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya 5th century water gardens to their former glory.

Pm Visit Minneriya National Park is an ideal eco tourism spot in the country. Spread over 8890 hectares, it was designated a biosphere reserve in the late 1970's. The wetland habitat of Minneriya National Park in Sri Lanka is inhabited by a large number of mammals such as elephants and sambars, leopards, sloth bears and the purple faced leaf monkey. the Minneriya National Park is also home to rare aquatic bird species such as the little cormorant. In addition to them, the painted strokes, Great white pelicans, Ruddy turnstones and Grey herons can also been spotted at the reserve. Early morning and late evening are perfect timings to spot these migratory birds. Beside the flora and the fauna, one of the main features of the park is the ancient Minneriya Tank. Built in 3rd century AD by King Mahasena, the tank helps in the irrigation of over 8500 hectares of paddy lands.

Day 06 Habarana /Dambulla / Matale / Kandy

After breakfast proceed to Dambulla rock temple. Dambulla rock temple is a vast isolated rock mass and it was here that king Valagambahu took refuge in the 01 st century B.C. He later turned the caves into a rock temple. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Srilanka's cave temples.The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceiling found here are over 2000 years old and is the largest area of painting found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Load Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

Thereafter continue to Kandy visiting a spice garden and batik factory in Matale en-route.

Lunch at Hotel Kandy , perhaps is Sri Lanka 's most beautiful town. Set 488 meters above sea level, and next to Colombo , Kandy is Sri Lanka 's most visited place. The focal point of the town is the golden-roofed ‘Dalada Maligawa', where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined. There are numerous shrines and temples in and around Kandy , where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, and stone carvings.  

PM - You will have the opportunity to shop in Kandy bazaar, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, and bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and rush and reed-ware. Late evening witness a kandyan cultural dance performance.

Day 07 Kandy /Peradeniya

After breakfast, visit The Royal Botanic Gardens at ‘Peradeniya' where you could treat your eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.

PM - You will have the opportunity to shop in Kandy bazaar, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, and bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and rush and reed-ware. Late evening witness a kandyan cultural dance performance.

Day 08 Kandy /Arugambay

Thereafter continue to Arugambay via Monaragala via visiting a tea plantation and witness the manufacture of the world's famous “Ceylon Tea” en route.

PM - Drive around Gregorys Lake and sightseeing of Nuwara Eliya. Nuwaraeliya set in the heart of tea-country, this beautiful town is where the British succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside, with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, a famous golf course and beautiful parks etc..,

Day 09 Arugam Bay

Full day at leisure on the beach.

Day 11 Nuwara Eliya / Horton Plains

After breakfast at hotel and proceed to Horton Plains.

6500ft above sea level lies Sri Lanka's highest and most isolated plateau. Nature lovers will revel in this wide, patna-grass covered plain, the haunt of many wild, yet harmless, animals and the home of many species of birds. Bridle paths will take you to the precipice known as World's End – a sheer drop of 1,050 meters. Waterfalls are seen and heard everywhere in this hill country.

PM – Visit the Hakgala Botanical Gardens.

This is the second largest gardens in Sri Lanka situated in salubrious environment near the capital city of the hill country. It provides charm and cold atmosphere with picturesque beauty by its own landscape and many blooms seen in various sections in garden. It enhances natural beauty by small water steams run across the garden and wooden bridges built over them. Thereafter city tour in Nuwara Eliya including visit Market , Old Post Office complex , Gregory Lake etc..,

Day 12 Nuwara Eliya / Yala

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Yala situated in extreme south-east of Sri Lanka . Stop at Ella. The view from Ella gap is one of the most spectacular scenic sights in Sri Lanka. The landscape falls away in a dizzy drop of 3000 feet to the eastern plains.

PM – Optional excursion to Yala National park .

The elephant is undoubtedly the best known attraction at Yala, seen in small & large herds. Herds of spotted deer are seen all over the park. Monkeys the pinkish rhesus and the grey faced Langur monkey, live and play on the tree tops and the ground below. Wild buffalo & wild boar could give a good surprise & the sight of a leopard sunning itself or drinking water at a water hole could be memorable experience. The peacock is easily the most famous of the birds at Yala. The painted stork, many varieties of heron, the spoonbill, the bee-eater, parakeets, and king-fisher & wood pecker are some of the birds can be seen in the park.

Day 13 Yala / Bentota - Wadduwa

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Bentota visiting the city of Galle en route . In this costal town, the Dutch presence is still visible. Galle was an ancient port (said to be the legendary Tarshish of the Bible) and our first international commerce and trade centre. Today, Galle is the bustling provincial capital and administrative centre of the south. It is famous for its lovely Unawatuna Bay, where the sea is reef protected and therefore safe for swimming. The old Dutch ‘Star' fort (a World Heritages Site) covering 36 hectares, the well-preserved Groote Kerk ( Dutch Church ),

Dutch Government House, the New Oriental Hotel (built in 1684) old bell tower and a tide-based Sewage-System, also introduced by the Dutch. In Galle they still make the Dutch ‘pillow-lace' and do fine ebony carving and gem polishing. Thereafter continue to Bentota visiting a turtle hatchery in Kosgoda en route. Bentota Resort complex is a romantic rendezvous of river and sea with several hotels, railway station, post office, shopping arcade, cafeteria and an open - air theatre showing folk and mask dancing with clusters of palms overlooking everything

Day 14 Bentota

Breakfast at the hotel and day at leisure. You could explore the long lazy beaches that stretches for miles along the south with plenty of beachside restaurants and little boutiques along the coast. Also, you could even take a walk on your own to the town and treat yourself to some shopping for various cultural handicrafts.
